To the Mathematics Teacher Educators across the State of Iowa,
We have the honor to invite you to Iowa City, IA for the RENEWAL of Iowa-AMTE meetings. The University of Iowa’s College of Education is hosting this workshop-style meeting in the newly renovated Lindquist Center on 1 April 2023. As we move forward from the COVID pandemic, we look to a new world full of possibility and opportunity for our profession, seeking ways to improve upon mathematics education and more specifically the work our preservice teachers complete in route to their certification.
We are happy to announce that the great Dr. Deborah Loewenberg Ball will be our keynote speaker and has graciously agreed to participate throughout this gathering.
Your presence would be most welcome, as we have many things we’d like to discuss. Topics include:

- Preparing pre-service teachers to handle the discretionary time and energy as they enter a classroom full time
- Comparing mathematics sequences for elementary education degrees across the state
- Implementing and facilitating Building Thinking Classrooms suggestions within our teacher preparation programs
- Drafting a response to the Iowa Legislature’s efforts to shift public education policies
